Fiji hotels is the most diverse of all the South Pacific Islands. Here you'll find large beach resorts with international brand names, small boutique resorts aimed at the rich and famous and secluded retreats for divers, surfers and romantic weddings as well as an extensive network of backpacker style beach resorts with lively atmospheres and lots of activities. Nadi Airport is located on the west coast of Viti Levu, the main island in Fiji. The town evolves around the tourist trade but unfortunately much of the development is inland from the beach. The beach area is rather drab although there are a few very nice tourist accommodations at Wailoaloa and Vuda that make pleasant beach holiday stays. For those looking for large hotels, the luxury resort development of Denarau boasts six large hotels including Sheraton, Hilton and Sofitel as well as a championship golf course just 20 minutes from the airport and ten minutes to Nadi Town. Otherwise, hotels in Nadi is basically aimed at the transit market, stopovers for a day or two before heading off to the outer islnd resorts. However, it is worth spending at least a couple of nights here as the island has some great sightseeing opportunities. For those on a budget or with a large family, making a base at one of the very affordable Nadi Hotels and taking a selection of the numerous excellent value day cruises to the offsore islands is a good way of saving monay yet enjoying the beaches and lagoons of the Mamnuca Islands. Download Our Nadi Airport E-Brochure Visible from Nadi are the wonderful Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands which take from 30 minutes to 3 hours by fast sea transfer (helicopter and sea plane charters are availble to all resorts and make great sightseeing along the way). These islands boast the most popular beach resorts in Fiji alongside fine white sandy beaches with turquoise lagoons and the best sunny weather in Fiji. However, lack of rainfall mean that vegetation is sparce and often the hills are brown. Hotels on the Offshore Islands is either on a tiny coral island or on a secluded bay on a slightly larger volcanic island. The resorts are generally well serviced and offer a wide range of watersports and activities but exploring beyond the resort is often tricky (or expensive) and there are no independent restaurants to visit - you're generally locked in to the resort environment. Download Our Mamanuca & Yasawas E-Brochure For those looking for more freedom than the island resorts, Fiji's Coral Coast offers an excellent mix of picturesque beach resorts, lush tropical rainforest and lots of exploring opportunities from cultural centres to historical sites. The Coral Coast is also easily accessable being between one and two hours drive to the south of Nadi Airport. Hotels on the Coral Coast is mostly in large hotel chains but there are several small boutique style resorts for those who prefer a quiter atmosphere. Pacific Harbour is considered the adventure-centre of Fiji with a championship golf course, fantastic river trips and cultural activities. The rainfall here is much higher than Nadi and results in vibrant tropical rain forest and lots of hidden waterfalls. Beyond Pacific Harbour, 3 hours by road from Nadi Airport, is the capital Suva City with its business hotels, cosmopolitan shopping and nightlife and access to some of the best and most remote rainforest in the country. Download Our Coral Coast E-Brochure For those looking to get off the beaten track and experience the real Fiji, staying at one of the many Accommodations in the Outer Islands is a worthwhile experience. Access to the outer islands is by small twin propeller airplane from Nadi Airport and takes between 30-minutes to one hour flight time. There are plenty of small resorts scattered around the islands, from basic homestay experiences to small luxury resorts where you can explore the environment and village lifestyle by day and relax in style at night. The Garden Island of Taveuni in the north boasts the best scuba diving as well as excellent hiking trails and endemic bird species within its huge National Park. Kadavu Island in the south has few roads but offers world class diving, surfing and fishing off its reefs with small specialist resorts in secluded locations. Rotuma and the Lau Group are so remote that few tourists make it this far out, although passage on a cargo boat makes it an exciting adventure into the unknown..
